The story of Westover Homes traces back more than two centuries to a man named John Wesley Richardson, the great-great-grandfather of one of the company's founders. John was born in Mississippi, a state in the southern United States, and as a boy he suffered a serious eye injury that eventually led to complete blindness.
Despite this hardship, John was determined to build a life of purpose. His family moved to Louisiana, another southern state in the United States, where he met and married Mary Howard. As their family grew, John felt a deep desire to build a home that would truly meet their needs. Because of his blindness, it was important to him that the home be open, well balanced, and easy to navigate. He designed it himself, with a central hallway running through the middle and each side of the house mirroring the other, windows and doors included.
John selected a plot along the Louisiana bayou where the land was open to a good breeze, and he designed a wraparound porch so his family could enjoy the outdoors together. What John built was not simply a house. It was a home shaped by care, intention, and a desire to make life better for the people he loved.
That same spirit lives in Westover Premier Homes today. We do not just build structures. We design homes that are thoughtful, balanced, and built to serve the families who live in them for generations to come.
